Conventional Research
The Brice Blair - Esther Peden line is the one of the oldest and most researched BSGR line. This line dates back to 1600 and 24 past and present members are researching this line. Some researchers believe that Bryce was a descendant of the Blair of Blair. Brice and Esther had at least six children including sons Abram Blair b. c1627-30, never married; Brice Blair b. 1628-30 m. DNA Testing
Five participants believe they descend from Brice Blair - Esther Peden.  Four of them (#8859, #94489, #106118, and #108503) descend through Brice's son Daniel and grandson Samuel. The fifth participant (#181454) descends through Brice's son Brice.

Brice is the hypothetical "Brice Blair". Although it is impossible to actually know his DNA test results, it is possible to derive his most likely test results based on the results of his descendants. These results are shown below. Note than these results may change as more descendants are test and more test results are available.

All five participants tested at least 25 markers. The number of mismatches each had with others is shown in the following table:

25 Marker Mismatches
  8859 94489 108503 181454 Brice 106118
8859   2 2 3 1 10
94489 2   4 5 3 8
108503 2 4   5 1 11
181454 3 5 5   4 10
Brice 1 3 1 4   11
106118 10 8 11 10 11

Four participants tested at 37 markers. The number of mismatches each had with others is shown in the following table:

37 Marker Mismatches
  8859 108503 181454 Brice 106118
8859   3 5 2 15
108503 3   6 1 16
181454 5 6   5 15
Brice 2 1 5   16
106118 15 16 15 16

All of the participant are haplogroup R1b1b2. Participants #8859, #94489, #108503, and #181454 are in Group 5. Participant #106118 is in Group 1.

The actual marker values for each participant are shown in the table below.

Conclusions
Interpretting DNA test can become very confusing when you multiple participants. "X" may match "Y" and "Y" may match "Z", but "X" may not match "Z".

In the of the descendants of Brice Blair and Esther Pedan it is difficult to draw any solid conclusions from the DNA test results. The table below show the degree of "Relatedness" of each of the participants to the other participants and to the hypothetical "Brice". The numbers down the diagonal indicate the number of markers tested.

026 Relatedness

From the table above, the most dominant conclusion is that participant #106118 is not even remotely related to any of the other participants or to the hypothetical "Brice". We can also conclude that participants #8859 and #108503 are related to each other and to "Brice". Participant #94489 is probably related to #8859 and possibly related to "Brice".

According to the DNA results #181454 is not related to #94489, probably not related to 108503 and only possibly related to #8859 and "Brice".

Based on the fact that four of the five participants who claim to descend from Brice Blair and Esther Pedan are in Group 5, it is almost certain that Brice does not descend from the Blair of Blair.
